On October 1, 2014, Psynergy Programs will take a proactive step to implement a tobacco-free policy on all of our campuses. The tobacco ban covers all tobacco products, including chewing tobacco and e-cigarettes; and will apply to all residents, staff members, vendors, visitors and contract employees. This means as of this October 1st, no tobacco-use of any kind will be permitted around our residential buildings and on facility parking lots or grounds.
As a health care organization, Psynergy Programs' primary mission is to protect the health of those individuals that work and reside in our therapeutic communities, while promoting a culture of healthier living. We are not asking clients and employees to stop using tobacco permanently. However, we are requiring them to refrain from tobacco-use while on the premises of our facilities.
Psynergy Programs will join other health care facilities and hospitals across the nation that are tobacco-free. Our tobacco-free policy has been developed in consultation with Chad Morris, PhD, Associate Professor and Director of the Behavioral Health and Wellness Program at the University of Colorado Denver. Dr. Morris has provided clinical, public policy and program evaluation consultation across more than 30 states and internationally to help organizations maintain the healthiest possible environment for patients, employees and visitors.
